FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Wilton Manors (Ft Lauderdale), Florida, Dec. 6, 2010_____ ELLEN CHARAPKO GALLERY will present, F.W.I. Fish Series, a Solo Exhibition of the latest works by Adela Yerushalmi. The exhibition will be on display from December 17, 2010 through January 16, 2011.
The public is invited to the gallery for an art walk reception on Friday, December 17, 2010,
7 – 10 p.m.
Two hundred, small, new works on paper, will capture your attention as you view the creatures of the sea in the most playful and imaginative manner; a joyful arrangement of fish presented in an environment above sea level.
Yerushalmi was born in Israel, immigrated to Canada in 1965 and currently resides in Martinique, French West Indies. She has traveled the world and her works of art are greatly influenced by the natural environment of the sea, desert and mountains. With rich and intricate symbolism, traces of the African culture can also be detected in her body of work. Besides canvas and paper the artist is known for using unique base materials to paint on, including bamboo and solid oak rum-barrel staves.
Simultaneously, during this solo show at Ellen Charapko Gallery, Yerushalmi will also be exhibiting in a group exhibition in Paris: Fenêtre sur, l’art de la Martinique a la Galerie Art Présent, from December 11 – January 10, 2011.
Yerushalmi has exhibited in the Caribbean, France and the United States and has been represented by the Ellen Charapko Gallery, in South Florida since 2007. Her work is in both corporate and private collections.
