Wilton Manors (Ft Lauderdale), Florida, March 9, 2010________ELLEN CHARAPKO GALLERY will present a Solo Exhibition of the latest works of Romanian artist, Cristina Iorga. Traveling Inward Series, will be on display from March 19th through April 12th, 2010.

The public is invited to the gallery for an art walk reception on Friday, March 19th, 7 – 10 p.m.

Cristina Iorga feels that creating art is an internal necessity and she is passionate about fulfilling that need. Vibrant color, movement – and psychic structures are all apparent in her works on paper. Forms are clearly seen, while others are veiled as the viewer ponders the evoking movement of line, color and hidden symbols. Like Kandinsky, Iorga is fascinated by the expressive power of linear forms. Her works on paper can be compared to a musical score moving fluidly in a symphony of rhythm.

Iorga was born in the Republic of Moldova in 1981 and now resides in California. At age of eleven, due to political tensions during the fall of URSS, she and her family moved to Romania. She attended the most prestigious art school in Romania, “Nicolae Tonitza.” She diligently pursued various art techniques such as figure drawing, still life, painting, composition and sculpting. In Romania she mostly created representational art, but on her arrival to the United States three years ago, she switched focus and started concentrating exclusively on abstract art producing a series of printmaking works on paper.

Iorga has participated in numerous exhibitions in both Europe and the United States, has received various awards and has been recognized in many publications. Her art is in public collections in Europe and private collections in both Europe and the United States.
